What is a Fringe Festival?

Fringe Festivals are dedicated to supporting independent artists and creating affordable spaces through which diverse communities can experience accessible boundary-pushing theatre and other performances.

There are over 250 Fringe Festivals that happen around the world, and Fundy Fringe is part of the 24 across Canada.

The Fundy Fringe Festival is a member of the Canadian Association of Fringe Festivals (CAFF) which is a large community of Fringe Festivals across North America who all bring shared values and adhere to the following guiding principles:

Participants will be selected on a non-juried basis, through a first-come, first-served process, a lottery, or other method approved by the Association.
Artists will receive 100% of the tickets and pass price, as agreed upon between the artists and festivals (less any applicable government taxes). Festivals may add a surcharge to tickets and passes.
Fringe festival producers do not interfere with the artistic content of each performance.
Festivals must provide an easily accessible opportunity for all audiences and all artists to participate in Fringe Festivals.
Festivals will promote and model inclusivity, diversity and multiculturalism, and will endeavor to incorporate them into all aspects of our organizations including our boards, staff, and volunteers.

Fundy Fringe Festival

The Fundy Fringe Festival is located in the port city of Saint John, New Brunswick in the Maritimes of Canada. We are a smaller festival housed under the Saint John Theatre Company Inc. bringing in 15 participating artists locally, nationally and internationally.

We are proud to say that we are mostly a volunteer-run festival with a small but strong team behind the scenes coordinating to bring a week of boundary pushing theatre to the community.
